Genesis Names Edgar Antonio Carranza Vice President, Sales Operations
The automaker said Carranza, most recently CEO of Hyundai Motor Mexico, will lead U.S. sales and retail operations starting July 20.
Genesis Motor America has appointed Edgar Antonio Carranza as vice president, sales operations, effective July 20, the company announced June 24.
In the role, Carranza will lead Genesis sales and retail operations in the U.S., including sales strategy, product distribution, incentives and field operations, according to the company. Genesis said the work is meant to support the brand's continued expansion and competitiveness in the U.S. luxury market. Carranza will report to Tedros Mengiste, chief operating officer, Genesis Motor North America.
"Edgar is a respected leader with a strong track record of delivering results and strengthening retail performance," Mengiste said in a statement. He said Carranza's experience leading operations in what he called a key North American market, along with his understanding of sales strategy and customer experience, positions him to help advance the brand's U.S. presence.
Carranza most recently served as CEO of Hyundai Motor Mexico, a role he had held since 2022, the company said. Genesis said he previously served as chief operating officer there, overseeing sales and marketing operations. Before joining Hyundai, Carranza held leadership roles at Nissan Motor Co. across Mexico, the United States and Japan, including general manager of global sales, according to the company.
Genesis said Carranza has more than 25 years of automotive industry experience spanning sales, planning and operations. He holds a degree in industrial engineering from the Instituto Politecnico Nacional and has completed executive education programs at IPADE Business School and Vanderbilt University, the company said.
Steven Yandura, former vice president of sales operations for Genesis Motor America, will assume the role of vice president, national sales, Hyundai Motor America, according to the company.
Genesis said it offers its lineup through a network of more than 190 independent U.S. retailers and more than 30 Canadian agency distributors, and counts more than 100 standalone retail facilities across North America.
