Correction

An earlier version called the detent at the 2026 Mazda MX-5's two-three crossing "crisp." It is not crisp. Crispness implies brittleness, a thing that might one day wear soft. This detent commits. It is decisive. The distinction is nothing to a driver who shifts twice a year and everything to one who does it ten thousand times. The record is corrected.
