Correction
On the character of a shifter detent in our Mazda MX-5 Miata review.
An earlier version of our review of the 2026 Mazda MX-5 Miata described the detent of the manual shifter's gate, at the two-three crossing, as "crisp." It is not crisp. It is decisive. Crispness implies a brittleness, a sound, a thing that might one day wear soft. This detent does none of that. It commits. The distinction is not small to those who reach for it ten thousand times a year, and it was ours to get right. We regret the imprecision deeply, and have corrected the record.
