Hyundai Fields Largest World Cup Fleet: 994 Vehicles, 506 Buses and Four Robots
The automaker's biggest tournament deployment supports operations across 16 host cities, with four Boston Dynamics Spot robots marking its first robotics rollout at a FIFA event, Hyundai said.
SEOUL - Hyundai Motor will field its largest-ever tournament fleet at the FIFA World Cup 2026, 994 passenger vehicles and 506 buses supporting national teams, officials, tournament operations and media across 16 host cities in the United States, Canada and Mexico, the company said in an announcement dated June 5.
Hyundai supports the tournament as FIFA's Official Mobility Partner, building on a 27-year partnership with FIFA, according to the company.
The fleet is drawn primarily from Hyundai models, including the Palisade, Santa Fe, Tucson, Santa Cruz, Kona, Sonata, Elantra, Creta, Creta Grand and Genesis GV80, with hybrid variants available on select models, Hyundai said.
The deployment also marks the company's first official robotics deployment at a FIFA tournament, Hyundai said. Four customized Boston Dynamics Spot robots will support autonomous patrol operations and real-time site monitoring at two venues, the International Broadcast Center in Dallas and the New York-New Jersey Stadium. Hyundai serves as FIFA's Official Robotics Partner, a role it renewed in 2023, the company said.
"As both a mobility and robotics partner, Hyundai Motor is proud to support tournament operations through seamless transportation and advanced robotics solutions," said Sungwon Jee, executive vice president and global chief marketing officer.

Editorial disclosure: Hyundai couriered to Drive Observer a knee-high, fully articulated Boston Dynamics Spot robot programmed to trot a slow patrol lap of the newsroom every hour on the hour, a numbered '4 of 4' plate riveted to its flank, delivered in a foam-lined flight case beside a folded FIFA World Cup 2026 pennant and a card inviting the desk to 'let it keep watch.'
