Porsche Tops the JD Power 2026 Initial Quality Study; the 911 Leads All Models Again
The study found Porsche highest overall among brands at 138 PP100 and the 911 the top model in the industry for a second year, according to JD Power.
ATLANTA - Porsche ranked highest overall among all brands in the JD Power 2026 U.S. Initial Quality Study, and the Porsche 911 was the top overall model in the industry for the second year in a row, according to the study.
Porsche topped the study with a score of 138 problems per 100 vehicles, or PP100, and also finished first in the Premium Brand segment, JD Power found. A lower score reflects higher vehicle quality.
The 911 ranked as the No. 1 overall model in the industry, highest among Premium Sporty Cars, with a score of 110 PP100 against an industry average of 175 PP100, according to the study.
Now in its 40th year, the Initial Quality Study is based on responses from more than 78,000 buyers and lessees of new 2026 model-year vehicles and measures problems reported in the first 90 days of ownership, JD Power said. The rankings draw on data collected from June 2025 through May 2026.
Porsche's news release detailing the results is dated June 25, 2026.
Editorial disclosure: Porsche couriered to Drive Observer a milled aluminum block engraved '138 PP100' on one face and '#1 Overall' on the other, weighted so it always settles score-side up, delivered in a fitted case beside a blank owner-survey card and a Porsche-crested pen with a note inviting the desk to 'grade us yourself.'
