2027 Kia Sportage Hybrid Priced From $30,590, With New Front-Drive Trims Lowering the Entry Point

Kia says the redesigned hybrid crossover adds front-wheel drive to its S and EX trims for the first time this model year, opening a cheaper way into the lineup, while the plug-in hybrid returns unchanged from $40,590.

IRVINE, Calif. - Kia has priced the 2027 Sportage Hybrid from $30,590 and, for the first time, added front-wheel drive to its S and EX trims, a change the company said gives hybrid buyers a more accessible entry point.

The Sportage HEV starts at $30,590 for the LX FWD, plus $1,495 for destination, which Kia listed separately. Those prices are the manufacturer's suggested retail price and exclude destination and handling, taxes, title, license fees, options and retailer charges, Kia said.

From the LX, the HEV lineup runs to $31,290 for the S FWD, $32,890 for the S AWD, $32,290 for the EX FWD, $33,890 for the EX AWD and $35,790 for the X-Line AWD, up to $40,690 for the SX-Prestige AWD, Kia said. The front-wheel-drive S and EX trims are new for the model year. Kia said the plug-in hybrid returns unchanged for 2027, priced from $40,590 for the X-Line AWD to $47,390 for the X-Line Prestige AWD.

Kia also said it will offer a new Technology Package on the HEV X-Line. The company said the package includes a 360-degree Surround View monitor, Blind-Spot View Monitor, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and navigation, Harman-Kardon premium audio, a driver's memory seat, Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist-Reverse and side parking sensors, Highway Drive Assist and LED fog lights.

The 2027 Sportage HEV is now dual sourced, Kia said, with production that includes assembly at the company's new HMGMA Metaplant in Savannah, Georgia. The pricing announcement did not include fuel-economy figures for the hybrid or plug-in hybrid models.

Editorial disclosure: Kia freighted to Drive Observer a full working Sportage HEV turbo-hybrid drive unit sectioned lengthwise and mounted under glass on a slow-turning motorized turntable beside the news desk, its cutaway gears milled and polished to a mirror, a small brass plate crediting assembly at the new HMGMA Metaplant in Savannah, Georgia, and a card inviting the desk to 'watch efficiency turn.'
