2027 Ram Heavy Duty Reaches Dealerships in August With Preliminary 37,020-Lb. Maximum Tow Rating
Ram says the 2027 heavy-duty lineup is in dealerships this August, with a preliminary maximum towing figure of up to 37,020 lbs. on the Ram 3500 Cummins HO turbo diesel. The two engines carry over unchanged from the 2026 heavy-duty lineup. The release contains no pricing.
The 2027 Ram Heavy Duty reaches dealerships this August, Ram said, with a new capability sheet and unchanged powertrains.
Ram lists preliminary maximum towing and payload as follows. Ram 2500: up to 17,740 lbs. towing and 4,580 lbs. payload with the 6.4-liter HEMI V8, and up to 20,000 lbs. towing and 3,990 lbs. payload with the 6.7-liter Cummins HO turbo diesel. Ram 3500: up to 18,140 lbs. towing and 7,580 lbs. payload with the HEMI V8, and up to 37,020 lbs. towing and 6,460 lbs. payload with the Cummins HO turbo diesel. All eight figures are preliminary.
The powertrains carry over unchanged from the 2026 heavy-duty lineup. Ram lists the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 at 410 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque and the 6.7-liter Cummins HO Turbo Diesel I-6 at 430 horsepower and 1,075 lb.-ft., paired to TorqueFlite 8HP75-LCV and TorqueFlite HD eight-speed automatics.
The Ram 2500 uses a five-link coil rear suspension, which Ram calls segment-leading for ride quality, and an available automatic-leveling rear air suspension it calls class-exclusive. The Ram 3500 keeps a rear Hotchkiss leaf spring system with an exclusive supplemental air suspension.
Ram calls class-exclusive its RamBox cargo management system with relocatable anchor points and LED lighting, and lists trailer reverse steering control, Blind-spot Monitoring with Trailer Tow Detection System and Trailer-Tow Pages. Screens include an available 14.5-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, which Ram calls largest-in-class, and a 10.25-inch passenger screen it calls a segment-first.
The trucks are built at the Saltillo Truck Assembly Plant. The release contains no pricing.
