Toyota Recalls About 4,100 Curtain Airbag Service Parts Sold for Tundra and Tacoma

PLANO, Texas - Toyota is recalling approximately 4,100 curtain shield airbag service parts in the United States, the company said. The parts are replacements sold after a vehicle was built, not airbags installed on the assembly line.

Toyota said the parts were produced from December 2021 to December 2025 and that some were sold as replacements for certain model year 2014 to 2021 Tundra CrewMax and Double Cab and 2016 to 2023 Tacoma models. Those parts may not have been manufactured properly and may not deploy as intended, the company said, which could reduce occupant restraint performance and increase the risk of injury in certain crashes. Curtain shield airbags deploy from the roof side rails in certain collisions.

Tundra owners in those model years known to have had a curtain shield airbag replacement part installed after November 2021 will be notified and asked to return the vehicle to a Toyota dealer, the company said. For Tacoma owners in those model years, the date is May 2024.

Dealers will inspect the vehicles and replace any affected assemblies at no cost, Toyota said. Owners who believe a curtain shield airbag was replaced after those dates should bring the vehicle in for inspection even without a notification. Dealers are also being asked to identify parts sold to body shops and collision repair facilities.

Toyota said it will notify owners of known vehicles by late September 2026 and others as contact information is received. Owners can check a VIN or license plate at Toyota.com/recall or nhtsa.gov/recalls or call 1-800-331-4331, the Toyota Brand Engagement Center.
